Template Validation Messages

During configuration of a template, as you provide answers and make selections the system will validate your choices and inputs based on the rules configured in the template design.

Error icons

If you provide an invalid answer which prevents you from continuing with the configuration or order process, a red error warning icon and message will be displayed against the invalid entry.

In addition, a red error warning icon will be shown on the Add to Cart button (which will also be disabled, preventing the configuration from being completed / added to the cart).

On a multi-page document, the error warning icon is also displayed on the relevant page thumbnail, shown on the page navigation bar. This is to highlight the page affected by the invalid answer.

Note: It is still possible to save a configuration with an error warning in place.

Alert icons

Alternatively, where an answer is not invalid, but warrants an alert, this causes the system to display an orange alert icon and an associated message. If one or more of these alert icons occur, you are still allowed to continue with your configuration.

Information icons

Information icons are shown following the validation process, which occurs when you open a saved design or wish to reorder a previously ordered design. These icons are used to indicate that a minor level change occurred to a currently selected asset. You may wish to review these, although the change should have no material effect on the design.

Note: The color of the Information icon is dependent on the color settings defined by your Administrator.

Text overflow indication

When text populates a configuration (typically by answering a text question or when selecting a Library Asset), Brandgility will try to reduce the text font size to make it fit, within the constraints set by the Template design. However, if the text cannot fit, even at the minimum allowed font size, then the text frame is highlighted with a red background and a red warning icon will be triggered on the Add to cart button.

In order to resolve this, you must either:

  • Reduce the number of characters entered.

  • Change the size of the text frame (if you are permitted to do so by the template design).

Numeric question validation

Numeric questions may have validation parameters assigned which check for minimum and/or maximum values. If you enter a value outside of the permitted range, then a red warning icon will be triggered on the question and on the Add to cart button. To resolve this, you must adjust your input to the numeric question to within the validation parameters.

Validation Process

When you open a saved configuration or want to reorder a previously ordered template, Brandgility checks to see if any of the picked assets (images and product details) used within the template design have changed since they were originally selected. The progress of the validation process is shown in the following information panel:

At the end of the process, a validation summary icon is displayed at the bottom of the template preview.

Validation Summary iconMeaning
DisabledNo errors, alerts or warnings were identified during the validation process.
EnabledOne or more of the picked assets have changed and need to be reviewed. Click the validation summary icon to view the validation summary.

In the validation summary, all error, warning and informational messages within the template will be listed. Before the template can be ordered, you must review and correct all error notifications. Any informational messages can be dismissed by clicking the icon in the validation summary.
