Editing a template
Overview
The template page consists of three panes:

The Canvas pane on the left-hand side of the page.

The Questions pane to the right of the template pane.
-
The Properties pane on the right-hand side of the page.
Use the tools and boxes in the Questions pane to define the Questions that are presented to the end user when they use the template.
Use the controls in the Properties pane to adjust the settings of the Canvas and the Elements and Questions. Properties include sizing, color and print dimensions. These are described in the sections on print document templates (section 3.5.3) and digital templates (section 3.7).

Dynamic resizing
Use dynamic resizing to allow end users to change the size of the template. When used, the elements in the template will automatically adjust their position as the template is resized.
To use dynamic resizing:

When editing a template, in the top-left corner, select .

In the properties pane on the right-hand side, select Allow Resizing.
Note: To resize the template while in Custom mode, select, hold and drag the blue dots icons: . If you want to set a Standard size from a dropdown of available sizes, then use the following steps:
To set a standard size:

Select the Standard sizes checkbox.

In the top-right corner, select Preview.
The Output size drop-down lists the standard sizes. For more information about previewing a template, see section 3.12

Select a standard size.

In the top-right corner, select Edit.

Select Save.
To set a minimum aspect ratio:

In the Canvas pane, resize the template to the minimum aspect ratio that you want to allow.

Next to Min Aspect Ratio, select Set. The current aspect ratio is now set as the minimum aspect ratio allowed.

Select Save.
To set a maximum aspect ratio:

In the Canvas pane, resize the template to the maximum aspect ratio that you want to allow.

Next to Max Aspect Ratio, select Set. The current aspect ratio is now set as the maximum aspect ratio allowed.

Select Save.
To set a minimum template size:

In the Canvas pane, resize the template to the minimum size that you want to allow.

Next to Min Area, select Set. The current template size is now the minimum template size allowed.

Select Save.
To set a maximum template size:

In the Canvas pane, resize the template to the maximum size that you want to allow.

Next to Max Area, select Set. The current template size is now the maximum template size allowed.

Select Save.
Snapshot thumbnails
A thumbnail image of each template asset is shown on the Search page. When editing a template, it is possible to take a snapshot of the template and replace the current thumbnail image.
To take a snapshot of the template while editing it:
- When editing a template, in the top-left corner, select .
To take a snapshot of a template while previewing it:

Select Preview in the top-right corner, For more information about previewing a template, see section 3.12.

Configure the template to populate the preview image, as necessary.

In the top-left corner, select .
Using text styles
Text styles can be used to consistently apply text formatting throughout a template.
To create a text style:
- On the canvas toolbar, select .
The Styles pane appears.

To add a new text style, select +.

In the Style Name box, enter a name for the text style.

In the Character Styles section, set character formatting options such as font type (you can upload custom fonts), size, tracking, leading, color, and letter case properties.

In the Paragraph Styles section, you can set the text to use bullet points, numbered steps, set left and right indents, and add ruling above and below.

In the Options section, set character formatting options such as font family, font weight, and color for bold, italic, and bold italic.
To use text styles, select a text style from the Content tab when creating or editing a Text Element. For more information, see section 4.2.
Using Layers
Template authors can use layers to view every element used on the canvas or access elements obstructed by other elements. Layers are automatically created when an element is added to a template and they are sorted by the order of addition.
You can also add more layers to group certain elements for better management and visibility. Brandgility assigns a different color to each new layer. You can also select your own color for each layer. If you add an element to a layer, the element when selected, is shown in the color of the layer.
To use layers:
- On the canvas toolbar, select . By default, all elements added to the canvas are grouped in Layer 1.

Use the following buttons to manage layers or the elements in a layer:

Select to add more layers. If you add a new layer and then select it, any new elements are added to that layer.

Select a specific layer to add new elements to that layer. Note: If you select for a given layer, all the elements on the canvas that belong to that layer are selected and highlighted with a border in that layer's color to help you identify the elements in that layer.

Select next to a name of a layer to expand or collapse the layer details and view the list of all elements that belong to that layer.

In the Layers panel, drag and drop elements to move them between layers.

Select to delete a given layer. Note: Every element added to the layer is also deleted.
