Text Questions
Overview
A Text Question asks the end user to provide a textual answer. The answer may populate an element or placeholder in the template. For example, you might use a text question to allow the end user to enter a local price or a contact telephone number.
Creating a new Text Question
To create a text question:
Note: If you want the new question to display immediately after an existing question, select the existing question. If not, the new question is added to the bottom of the question list.

In the top-left corner, select +.

In the Questions section, select Text. The new text question is displayed in the Questions pane. The question properties are displayed in the Properties pane. The default value is answer.

Use the Properties pane on the right-hand side of the page to set the question properties.
Note: If the Question element has the default answer value and you link the Question element to the Text element, the Question is populated in the following way:

If the Text element has the default value, for example Text1, this default value populates the Question and overwrites answer.

If the Text element has a value entered by you, this value populates the Question and overwrites answer.

If you remove the answer value in Question and then link Question to a Text element, the Question is left blank and the Text element value is shown, for example, Text1.

If you change the answer value in Question, for example to Your name, and then link the Question to the Text element, the Question value is Your name and the Text element value is shown, for example Text1.
Text question properties
Property | Description |

Type | Select the type, Text or Number. |
Mandatory | If selected, the end user must complete the question. * appears next to the title of the question to indicate it is mandatory. |

Disallowed Characters | Select this option to prevent the end user from entering certain characters (for example, #, ~ or $). In Characters, enter the characters that you want to disallow. In Warning, enter the message that you want to display to the end user if they enter a disallowed character. |
Approve / Edit | Select this option to allow the end user to approve or edit the displayed text. |
Superscript | Select this option to allow the end user to apply superscript formatting to the text. |
Subscript | Select this option to allow the end user to apply subscript formatting to the text. |
Bullets | Select this option to allow the end user to use bullet points in the text. |
Show Color Picker | Select this option to allow the user to choose the text color from a dynamic color picker. End users can select the color picker in the question: |
Common Symbols | Select this option to allow the end user to use common symbols in the text, such as Copyright, Registered and Trademark. |
Letter Case | Set the letter case of the text entered by the end user. Normal: The end user can enter both lowercase and uppercase text. This is the default setting. Lower: Text entered by the end user always displays in lowercase. Upper: Text entered by the end user always displays in uppercase. |
Fonts | Click the down arrow to access the list of fonts that will be made available to the end user on this question. Select + to add a new font entry.Click the pencil icon to display the Font editor.Use the dropdown to select the font for the Regular Font: If you want to make Bold and/or Italic available to the end user on this question, select the appropriate checkbox options and then select a font to be used for these. As a result, a font selection control is displayed to the end user in the question. |

Font Colors | Click the down arrow to access the list of font colors that will be made available to the end user on this question.
