Text Elements

When editing a template, you can pre-configure text frames, which contain text that appears in the template. Text frames can contain brief phrases or longer text. By setting the element properties, you can determine the position and appearance of the text.

To add a text frame:

  1. In the top-left corner, select +.

  2. Select Text Frame.

To edit the text of the text frame:

  1. Double-click on the text frame.

  2. Inside the text frame:

    • Click once to place the cursor where you want to.

    • Double-click to select a word.

    • Click three times to select a line.

    • Click four times to select a whole paragraph.

Use the General, Content and Permissions tabs to configure the text frame:

The available properties on each tab are as follows:

TabConfiguration
GeneralID: Brandgility generates a unique ID for the text frame. You can edit this if you wish.
Title: A descriptive label for the text frame.
Animation: Select Add To Timeline to add the text frame to the animation timeline.
Note: This section is available only for animated digital templates.
In the Position & Size section, adjust the position and size of the text frame.
You can enter the rotation of the element in degrees.
In the Auto-size section, automatically set the width, the height or both the width and height of the text frame element to the size of the entered default text.
This is set to Off by default.
In the Flow section, set the flow of text from one text frame to another. You can use this section to set a flow logic for additional text frames that are then consecutively filled as the preceding frames cannot hold more text.
Use the Flow to and Flow from drop-downs to set the required flow between text frames.
Auto-fit: When the text frames are linked to one another in the Flow section and all linked frames are full, the font across all linked frames is reduced to allow for more text. Auto-fitting across linked text frames is enabled when you set an appropriate minimum font size in the Content tab.
ContentIn the Character Styles section, set character formatting options such as font type (you can upload custom fonts), size, tracking, leading and colour properties.
A Text Style can also be selected. Text Styles can be used to consistently apply and change text formatting throughout a template. For more information, see section 3.5.5.
In the Paragraph Styles section, you can set the text to use bullet points, numbered steps, set left and right indents, and add ruling above and below.
In the Text Frame Styles section, set the text alignment, minimum font size, opacity, stroke options and text direction.
In the Effects section, you can apply visual effects to the text, such as drop shadow and outer glow.
PermissionsIn the End User Options section, you can specify which of the text frame settings are to be made available to the end user and thereby allowing them to modify the element.
