Elements

Overview

Elements are the items that appear in your template, such as text and images. You can set constraints on what the end user can change by setting and changing selected element properties and by setting appropriate rules for library asset selection. For example, if you include a text frame element in your template, you may allow the end user to change the text inside it.

You can add the following elements to a template:

  • Text frame

  • Cutter guide (Print Template only)

  • Ellipse

  • Image frame

  • Dynamic panel

  • Rectangle

  • Sub template slot

Note: The above options are not available for HTML templates.

You can set constraints on how end users can modify your design. Depending on the constraints you set, end users might be able to do the following:

  • Change placeholder text

  • Move, resize, crop and rotate elements.

You can also allow the end user to change an element with Questions. For example, you might allow the end user to switch between two images in a design, or two title texts, depending on the target audience they select. For more information, see Section 5.

Select Save to keep your changes when you finish editing the template.

Use the Preview tab in the top menu to see how your template will appear to end users.

[Common Element controls:]

At the top of the properties pane for an element, the following common controls are available:

  • Select to show or hide the current element. This will be the default state of the element, but this can then be changed by logic statements.

  • Select to lock the element in position. Note: If you lock an element, end users cannot modify its position or size during configuration.
