About Approval Chains

An approval chain is a sequence of review steps, applied to a design that has been submitted for order. The chain allows for approval or rejection of the design by one or more approvers or one or more groups of approvers, as follows:

  • A chain can be configured so that a design is approved or rejected by a nominated approver (Add User).

  • A chain step can be configured to use dynamic approval. This allows you to define the criteria for selecting an approver or group of approvers (Add Step).

When an order is identified for approval, then all assigned approvers at each step will receive an email with details of the order to be reviewed. For an ordered design to be produced, it must be accepted by an approver at all steps in the chain. Thus, ensuring designs comply with your policies and any legal requirements.

Manage Approval Chains allows you to manage the approval chains, defining the steps and the users who will approve content at each step.

Manage Approvals allows you as the manager of approvals to view all content that is awaiting approval on any Approval chain/step. It also allows you to approve any item (overriding the approver or approvers at the current step in the chain).

Approval History shows a list of all items that have been approved, including details of: Name, Date Submitted, Date Reviewed, Submitted By and Status.

Approval Setup allows for day values to be defined that trigger when an approval has been pending or has become past due for more than the specified number of days.
