Managing Asset Types

To start working with Asset Type, select My Account followed by Manage Asset Types.

Note: To access this page, you need to have the Manage Asset Types permission in your role.

If this is the first time you have accessed Brandgility, there will not be any asset types to view.

  1. To create a new Asset Type, click the Add Root Item button. A new window opens, as is shown below:

  1. Enter the Name (this is a required field) and the Description. Select the Background and Text Colour for the lozenge (the example will change).

  2. In the Type section, select the new asset type.

You cannot change the Type setting afterwards. You can have multiple asset types of the same Type.

  1. For the Library Asset type, you can select Can Be Ordered to make the new library asset orderable. Note: When the Can Be Ordered checkbox is selected, this library asset also acquires the properties and workflow of a static item asset. For more details on making library assets orderable, see Orderable Library Assets.

  2. If available, choose how you want the asset to be delivered, and select your required output formats:

Delivery typeSupported output formats
Print- PDF
- IDML
Digital- PNG 24 bit
- PNG 8 bit
- PSD
- PSD Flattened
- JPG Maximum
- JPG Very High
- JPG High
- JPG Medium
- JPG Low
- GIF
- IDML
HTML- MP4
- HTML ZIP
Email- HTML ZIP
Animated Digital- HTML ZIP

Note: The PSD Flattened output type option for a digital template will provide a flattened Adobe Photoshop formatted file i.e. all images on a single layer. If you want to create a layered Adobe Photoshop format file, select the PSD output type option, where available.

  1. If the User Download Options column is shown, select the required download option for each selected output type. This sets what will be available to a user on the My Orders page after placing an order.

    • None -- No download option is available.

    • Production -- An exact copy of the ordered item is available.

    • Production Proof -- An exact copy of the ordered item with a "Proof" watermark on it is available.

    • Preview Proof -- A lower quality copy of the ordered item with a "Proof" watermark on it is available.

The user ticks the checkbox to select the available outputs and then chooses which of these is the default setting.

  1. If relevant, click the Attribute + button to open the Attribute selection box. Select one or more of the attributes that should be carried by an asset of this asset type. For example, if you wish to set up an asset for an outlet in a particular location, you might choose the Attributes: Outlet Name and State/County. Click Select to confirm your selection.

  2. As appropriate, select whether an attribute is to be mandatory. This will ensure that any new assets of this type must have this attribute set. This setting can be applied to any attribute.

  1. For text, image, list and country attributes, you must select whether the user can enter a single value or multiple values.

Note: For a List or country type attribute this selection type option sets whether the attribute is presented as a checkbox list (multi) or as a radio button (single).

  1. Finally, click Create to create your new asset type. This will now be displayed on the Managing Asset Types page and will be available as an Asset type when creating an Asset. Asset types are displayed alphabetically.

Note: The type of the Asset Type cannot be changed once set, but attributes can be added, removed or moved. Use the to change the order of the attributes. This affects the order that they appear in the tiles (with the first three attributes displayed).
